About Crisp Laundry in SoHo
SoHo is defined by its cast-iron architecture — four- and five-story loft buildings from the 1860s and 1870s, originally built for textile manufacturing, that became artist lofts in the 1970s and luxury residences ever since. The SoHo Cast-Iron Historic District protects most of the building stock from major exterior changes, which means the streets still look almost exactly like they did a century and a half ago, cobblestones and all. The interiors, of course, have been completely redone — most are now large-format luxury condos or modern conversions with original tin ceilings and tall arched windows.
Our SoHo customers are heavily skewed toward the fashion and art industries. Designers, gallerists, fashion executives, and the kind of creative professionals who built their careers here all need laundry handled with more care than the average — designer pieces are common, fabrics are unusual, and the cost of getting a single garment wrong is high. We tag every dry-cleaning piece at intake, inspect individually, and flag anything we'd recommend handling differently before we touch it. Wash & fold gets the same standard of care, with a particular focus on getting the folding right (no creased silk, no compressed cashmere).
The cobblestone streets and protected building stock create some real operational quirks. Many SoHo lofts are accessed through narrow, often historic stairwells; some have freight elevators that are the only practical way to move large bags up; and a few of the more prominent buildings on Greene, Mercer, and Wooster have specific delivery rules (service entrances, time windows). Our drivers know all of this; we note it on the building once and apply it for every future pickup.
We cover SoHo from Houston down to Canal, west of Lafayette to West Broadway, every day. Pickups concentrate around the morning, before the SoHo shopping streets fill up — getting a van down Spring Street at 2pm on a Saturday is genuinely difficult, so we don't try. Returns are usually late afternoon, before the dinner crowd arrives. Tribeca to the south, the West Village to the west, and Chinatown to the east share parts of the same routing, which keeps turnaround tight.
To start, schedule a pickup in the app. $2.95/lb for wash & fold pickup and delivery, $2.50/lb for in-store drop-off at our Murray Hill store, and individual pricing for dry cleaning.
