Hell's Kitchen is one of the busier neighborhoods we work in, and the customer mix is unlike anywhere else in Manhattan. The blocks between Eighth and Tenth Avenues, from West 42nd up through West 57th, are a dense mix of walk-up tenements, mid-rise rentals, and newer luxury towers — and they sit directly on top of Restaurant Row, the Broadway theater district, and a shifting population of performers, hospitality workers, young professionals, and families. The pickup logistics are simple (the avenues are wide, the cross streets are short, and the buildings are mostly clustered together), but the customer needs are unusually varied.

Broadway performers are a meaningful part of our weekly pickup volume in Hell's Kitchen. Eight-show weeks mean a constant churn of athletic wear, base layers, and the kind of practical wardrobe that keeps actors warm at half-hour and quick-change-able onstage. We do not handle costumes (that's its own world), but everything that is not a costume — the rehearsal clothes, the dance gear, the pajamas you change into at one in the morning after a Saturday matinee and an evening show — we handle a lot of. Pickup windows for performers tend to be late-morning and early-afternoon, between matinees.

Restaurant industry workers along Restaurant Row and the cross streets are another steady part of our base. Chef coats, aprons, kitchen towels, and front-of-house uniforms run on a recurring schedule — most of our restaurant accounts here are weekly, billed monthly. Families in the newer Hudson-facing buildings and mid-rises along Tenth and Eleventh are the third group, and they look more like what you'd see in any other Manhattan neighborhood: weekly recurring pickup, doorman handoff, kids' clothes and bedding by the bagful.
